Timeline:

• ~1500 BC:  The Aryans invade India from Europe, through the Khyber Pass, and take India from the Harappans.
  

• Battles between Aryan tribes.

• Vedas are written down, and thus the oral tradition is ended.

• Ramayana is written by Valmiki.

• Mahabharata is written by Vyasa.

• Aryans take up agriculture and settle down, abandoning their nomadic culture.

• ~500 BC:  The Time of the Buddha; Aryan society is at an end.
